Design:

Closed, the Duo works as a normal phone via a 5.4-inch cover display; opened, it's a 7.6-inch inner OLED, close to a small tablet, for reading, split-screen multitasking, stylus note-taking, and video. Both are LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED panels that run the full 1-120Hz ProMotion range and hit 3000 nits peak, so they're bright and smooth. Apple has focused on two classic foldable weaknesses: the inner panel uses a matte Nano Texture finish with an anti-reflective coating to cut glare, and Apple has engineered the hinge for only a small display crease, the faint ridge at the fold that's usually the most noticeable flaw on foldables. The cover screen is protected by Ceramic Shield 2.

Camera System:

The back camera has two 48MP sensors: a main 48MP sensor with a large 1.28-inch sensor and second-generation sensor-shift OIS for clear, stable low-light photos; and an ultrawide 48MP sensor for wide scenes and close-ups. Since both are 48MP, the detail stays the same when you crop. The real problem is that there isn't a dedicated periscope telephoto lens, so the optical zoom isn't as good as on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This is to be expected since the Duo's body is so thin and foldable. There are 4K up to 120 frames per second, Dolby Vision HDR, ProRes, and spatial video in the video. It is all Apple Pro Grade. There are two cameras you can use for selfies: a 12MP cover camera, which is better for quality photos, and an under-display camera, which is hidden beneath the inner screen to keep the screen clean. This camera is good for video calls but not as good as a normal front camera.

Performance With an A20 Pro Chip:

Inside is the flagship 2nm A20 Pro with 12GB of RAM, the same class of silicon as the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone 18 Pro, so performance is top-tier: demanding games, 4K ProRes editing, and Apple Intelligence AI features all run smoothly, and the power headroom suits the large screen's multitasking. Storage spans 256GB to a large 2TB on fast internal storage (no microSD), worth sizing up if you shoot ProRes or keep a big library. The USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port supports DisplayPort out, so you can drive an external monitor, and stylus support turns the 7.6-inch canvas into a genuine notepad, a natural fit for a screen this size.

Battery, Charging, and eSIM:

The Duo is engineered thin, so Apple leans on the efficient 2nm chip and LTPO screens to stretch battery life; expect a solid full day, with heavy tablet-mode use drawing it down faster. Charging is quick, about 50% in 20 minutes wired via USB-C PD, plus 25W MagSafe/Qi2 wireless (50% in about 30 minutes). The connectivity point that matters most locally: the Duo is eSIM-only, with no physical SIM slot on any model. That's fine if your network supports eSIM, but it's essential to confirm first if you rely on swapping a physical SIM; this phone can't do it. Otherwise connectivity is complete: 5G, tri-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB gen2, and NFC with Apple Pay.

Build, Safety, and Durability:

The Duo is built around a grade 5 titanium frame and hinge, which is strong yet light, and it uses Ceramic Shield 2 glass. It also carries a full IP68 rating for immersion to 6 m for 30 minutes, which is rare in a foldable and deeper than most of its competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Fold 8. No signal for Satellite Emergency SOS, Messages, and Find My Work (Kenya depends). Realistically, the hinge and flexible inner screen will require more care than a solid iPhone, but the titanium build and Apple’s crease engineering make it one of the more robust folds. It has iOS 27 and Night Sky or Star White.
